Despite being the scenario considered ideal by Nathalia, not every house has an extra room to act as a home office, especially when you live in an apartment. Therefore, the first step in designing your home office is to understand which home office model is best suited for your situation.
When the idea is to receive clients, for example, the best thing is for the home office to be set up in the living room or in a reserved space. “An office in the bedroom does not work well in these cases, because the person may feel uncomfortable or intimidated to enter there”, explains Nathalia.

If there’s no way, as in apartments where the living room and bedroom are integrated, a feature often seen in apartments with industrial decor , for example, the architect recommends office models in which a relaxed decor takes care of breaking the ice. “You can bet on vibrant colors and cool paintings to make the environment cooler”, she says.

Speaking of an office in the bedroom, the question is not uncommon — after all, can you or can you not? And the answer is: it depends. “Ideally, it should be in another room, because for some people the fact of having to leave the room to work makes a lot of difference”, says Nathalia.

Lighting , incidentally, is the biggest asset of a good home office. “It is essential that the home office is a well-lit place”, says Nathalia. The height of the table, suited to the body type of the person using it, is the first thing to consider.
